Mars is home of some of the world's most-loved confectionery products.

About Us

To millions of people around the world, Mars is a name synonymous with quality, value and enjoyment, brought to life through our chocolate and cocoa-based products.

Whether it's the simple pleasure of savoring the world's best-loved chocolate and confectionery, the satisfaction of a drink delivered efficiently from a vending machine, a contented pet or the reward of a delicious hot meal, Mars is the company behind the brands known and trusted.

Today Mars is an $18 billion a year business operating in over 100 countries. Perhaps more surprisingly, and unusual for a business of our size, we are still privately owned - making us one of the largest 'small family businesses' in the world.

Our success is not simply due to developing the right products. It's a unique combination of innovation and determination, the essence of which can be found in the Five Principles that shape our business.

The five guiding principles of Mars, Incorporated enable us to enter into partnerships that ensure an abundant, long-term supply of cocoa, address the social and economic needs of small-scale cocoa farmers, and encourage respect and diversity of natural habitat in and around cocoa communities.

  • Quality - The Consumer is our boss, quality is our work and value for money is our goal. Quality was and still is the foundation of our success. Today, our goal is quality in everything we set out to achieve, the products we make, the services we provide and the people who make up the Mars team.
  • Responsibility - As individuals, we demand total responsibility from ourselves; as associates, we support the responsibilities of others. Respect for the individual is at the heart of the Responsibility principle. At Mars, we encourage associates to accept personal responsibilities so that all associates can achieve their full potential.
  • Mutuality - A mutual benefit is a shared benefit; a shared benefit will endure. Mutuality describes the standard to which everyone at Mars aspires in all our business relationships.
  • Efficiency - We use resources to the full, waste nothing and do only what we can do best. Our efficiency lets us operate with fewer resources than any other company our size. We achieve this by stringent resource selection and only doing the things we do best.
  • Freedom - We need freedom to shape our future; we need profit to remain free. Mars is one of the world's largest food businesses, and - almost uniquely today - is still a family-owned company. Private ownership has been a deliberate choice and has allowed Mars to retain its freedom.
